Tucker Carlson called out Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky last night for literally banning opposition political parties in Ukraine. He also criticized Zelensky for seizing control of all his country’s media outlets, signing a decree that combines all Ukraine’s national TV channels into a single platform to stop “misinformation”.
See Carlson’s monologue here:
This past Sunday, Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky cited martial law and announced an order “combining all national TV channels, the program content of which consists mainly of information and/or information-analytical programs, [into] a single information platform of strategic communication” to be called “United News.”
United News will be controlled by the State. Zelensky’s office cited the importance of a “unified information policy” under martial law.
This quote was taken directly from Zelensky’s speech:
“That is why the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine decided… Given the full-scale war waged by the Russian Federation and the ties of some political structures with this state, any activity of a number of political parties during the martial law is suspended. Namely: “Opposition Platform – For Life”, “Shariy Party”, “Nashi”, “Opposition Bloc”, “Left Opposition”, “Union of Left Forces”, “State”, “Progressive Socialist Party of Ukraine”, “Socialist Party of Ukraine”, “Socialists” Party, “Volodymyr Saldo Bloc”.
The Ministry of Justice is instructed to immediately take comprehensive measures to ban the activities of these political parties in the prescribed manner.”
This may come as a surprise for many in the West, where to date Zelensky enjoys high praises and accolades from many of his fellow political and Hollywood peers. His extensive list of Hollywood admirers include Michael Keaton, John Stewart and Amy Schumer. In fact, CNN “reported” that Schumer pitched Zelensky as a special guest at the 94th Academy Awards, where she will be the host.
