Strategic consultant and author Rafael Marrero offers a sharp analysis of the tense relationship between the United States and China in his latest book, The Last Frontier: Chronicle of America’s Resistance Against Communist China .
In an exclusive interview with DIARIO LAS AMÉRICAS , Marrero broke down the central arguments of his work, which he presents as a “detailed chronicle” of what he calls an “existential” and largely “undeclared” confrontation between the two powers.
The book delves into the complex geopolitical dynamics of recent years. Marrero argues that the United States is engaged in an “asymmetric war” against China, a struggle fought on multiple fronts: economic, technological, ideological, and—alarmingly—potentially biological.
A key element in his thesis is the devastating impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. Questioning its purely natural origin, Marrero claimed that the virus served as a catalyst that not only struck the world’s health and economy but also “brutally exposed the United States’ dangerous dependency on China,” shifting the global balance of power.
Marrero paints an alarming picture by describing the US as a “neocolony” of Chinese “social imperialism.” I have attributed this vulnerable status to decades of flawed policies, offshoring of industry, and critical dependence on manufacturing and supplies that have undermined American sovereignty.
