The Senate trial of former President Donald Trump should be an exercise in futility; there is no constitutional framework to impeach a former president. Senators Schumer and McConnell have agreed to a set of rules for the impeachment trial. The rules will be voted on tomorrow, along with an initial set of four hours of arguments on the constitutionality of the entire fiasco beginning… and then a vote.
WASHINGTON DC – The agreement between Schumer and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, in conjunction with the House impeachment managers and Trump’s lawyers, will allow up to four hours of arguments on Tuesday about the constitutionality of putting a former president on trial.
