The devastating wildfires ravaging Los Angeles have caused historic damage, mass evacuations and forced major entertainment and sports events to be postponed.
The Critics Choice Awards, set to take place on Sunday, have been pushed back until January 26. The awards show would have been held at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, just a few miles from the Pacific Palisades neighborhood where the fire is still burning.
Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Kings‘ home game against Calgary Flames was also postponed, “in light of the devastating effects of the wildfire,” the NHL confirmed in a statement. A new date for the game has not yet been announced.
“The thoughts of the entire NHL family are with the Kings, hockey fans and the people of the Los Angeles area during this difficult time,” the NHL added.
Hollywood studios also suspended a number of TV and movie shoots on Wednesday, including “Hacks,” “Ted Lasso” and “Suits LA” at Universal, and ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” Disney closed its Burbank headquarters and canceled production on shows including “Grey’s Anatomy” and “Doctor Odyssey.”
The premiere of Universal’s “Wolf Man” has also been postponed.
