- Ohio resident Ben Ratner said his family are ‘trapped’ living under a toxic cloud
- The cloud was created by the train derailment that occurred in East Palestine
- Months earlier, Ratner appeared in the Adam Driver movie White Noise
An Ohio man living through the aftermath of the horrific train derailment that occurred in his hometown is experiencing a case life imitating art after he was featured as an extra in the disaster movie White Noise.
The plot revolves around a derailment that forces residents to leave their homes amid an environmental catastrophe.
Ben Ratner, 37, said in an interview with ABC News that last week he attempted to watch the film but had to shut it off after 15 minutes saying: ‘It’s no longer entertaining.’ In the movie, he plays a local resident attempting to flee the town.
Ratner went on to say that his family are ‘trapped’ living under the toxic cloud caused by the horrific freight train crash that occurred on February 3 in the town of East Palestine.
‘You know, our kids go to school here. [I’m] definitely feeling very trapped by the situation, [it’s] hard to balance the safety and well-being of everybody with the kids wanting to kind of get back to their normal lives,’ Ben Ratner, 37, told ABC News this week. He lives in East Palestine with his wife, Lindsay, and their four children.

He said that his family has moved back to East Palestine, after the EPA gave residents the go-ahead to go home. Although, Ratner said that his family were reluctant but relented due to lack of options.
