The former Democratic chair of the House Jan. 6 committee blasted Speaker Kevin McCarthy Tuesday for ‘irresponsibly’ handing over 41,000 hours of footage of the January 6 attack on the Capitol, while Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries called it an ‘egregious security beach.’
‘The apparent transfer of video footage represents an egregious security breach that endangers the hardworking women and men of the United States Capitol Police, who valiantly defended our democracy with their lives at risk on that fateful day,’ Jeffries wrote colleagues in a letter to Democratic colleagues Tuesday.
Thompson also accused the top-rated cable host of serving as an enabler of Russian President Vladimir Putin, who continues to wage his relentless war on Ukraine.
‘It’s hard to overstate the potential security risks if this material were to be used irresponsibly,’ said Thompson, whose panel was disbanded after Republicans took control of the House early this year…
