Fox News host Tucker Carlson called for the United States to “liberate” Canada before it “becomes Cuba,” suggesting an armed military intervention to free the country from Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
During an interview with Canadian college professor David Azerrad on “Tucker Carlson Today,” the conservative commentator compared Canada’s left-wing PM to the late Cuban communist politician Fidel Castro, who ruled a single-party authoritarian regime that caused a mass exodus of citizens from the country.
“Why should we stand back, and let our biggest trading partner, the country with which we share the longest border… why should we let it become Cuba?” Carlson asked, noting that he’s “always loved Canada.”

“Like, why don’t we liberate it?” he continued, before juxtaposing the US’s inaction towards violations of personal freedom in Canada to its participation in the war between Ukraine and Russia.
