Meeting your doppelganger may sound like something that only happens in movies, but the rare occasion has happened to thousands of people worldwide and a new study finds it isn’t just their facial features that are similar – their DNA and behaviors are also alike.
A team of scientists from Leukaemia Research Institute in Barcelona, Spain investigated 32 doppelganger couples by using facial recognition algorithms, lifestyle questionnaires and DNA swabs.
A total of 16 of the couples were deemed to have traits similar to identical twins and they also had comparable genotypes, the version of the DNA sequence that an individual has.
The results also determined that all 32 doppelgangers in the study were similar in height and weight, along with having similar behavioral trails such as smoking and education.
