A recent poll by Gallup released on Monday shows a more than double-digit shift in party preferences at the US national level, shifting the balance in favor of the Republicans.

Gallup reports that, the last time they performed the same poll (in Q1 2021) the American public skewed nine percent in favor of the Democrats. This most recent poll, however, (in Q1 2021) shows that the Republicans are now favored by five percent.

“These results are based on aggregated data from all U.S. Gallup telephone surveys in 2021, which included interviews with more than 12,000 randomly sampled U.S. adults,” states Gallup’s website.
