Eighty-three percent of the buildings in Gaza City, including roughly 81,000 housing units, have been damaged by Israel’s operations in the area to date, a preliminary analysis from the UN Satellite Center finds.
The data is shared by UN spokesperson Stephane Dujarric during a briefing with reporters.
Israel began an operation to conquer Gaza City last month, though, its forces have been operating there since the beginning of the war.
Last week, Israel agreed to halt some of its operations in the Strip, as the US advanced its plan to end the war, but the IDF has continued what it has branded as defensive operations, which have seen dozens of Palestinians reportedly killed daily.
