The Trump administration on Monday announced the launch of a federal immigration operation in Chicago after weeks of teasing a new sanctuary city to target.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is kicking off “Operation Midway Blitz” in the city and across the state of Illinois, according to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). The initiative will target illegal migrants who “flocked” to the region due to the sanctuary laws and policies that have purportedly helped them avoid apprehension from agents. “This operation will target the worst of the worst criminal illegal aliens in Chicago,” Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin said in a public statement. “For years, Governor Pritzker and his fellow sanctuary politicians released Tren de Aragua gang members, rapists, kidnappers, and drug traffickers on Chicago’s streets — putting American lives at risk and making Chicago a magnet for criminals.”
“President Trump and Secretary Noem have a clear message: no city is a safe haven for criminal illegal aliens,” McLaughlin continued. “If you come to our country illegally and break our laws, we will hunt you down, arrest you, deport you, and you will never return.”…
