After concluding the inquiries into the big issues behind the military failures that enabled Hamas’ massacre in southern Israel on October 7, 2023, the Israel Defense Forces is now releasing the results of its inquiries into specific battles, one after the other.
Day after day, senior officers who investigated some 40 separate battles have been presenting their lengthy reports to the affected communities. Immediately after that, they are shown to the media.
On Monday, inquiries into the battles at Kibbutz Kfar Azza and the Nahal Oz military base were released. In the coming days, the army is expected to release its findings on Kibbutz Nir Oz, Kibbutz Nahal Oz and Netiv Ha’asara.
If we thought that we had seen and heard everything, this new mass of details is both instructive and infuriating. It also paints the biggest disaster in the country’s history in even graver terms.
