1. Romanian Presidential candidate Călin Georgescu was arrested on the day he was due to file to run for president. The Constitutional Court annulled his previous victory in last year’s election over unsubstantiated allegations of Russian interference.
2. Trump announced that Ukraine had agreed to a mineral deal with the U.S and that Zelensky would visit the White House to sign it: “He would like to sign it together with me, and I understand that’s a very big deal—it could be a trillion-dollar deal.”
3. French police shot dead a man who “threw himself” at officers with knives in the northeastern suburbs of Paris. A taser was deployed but had no effect, forcing another officer to open fire, striking the man in the chest.
4. Trump’s budget bill passed a House vote, setting the stage for tax cuts, strict immigration laws, defense spending, and energy expansion.
5. Crowds gathered across central Israel for the funeral procession of Shiri, Kfir, and Ariel Bibas. The family, taken hostage on Oct. 7 and later confirmed dead in Gaza, has become a symbol of the conflict’s toll.
6. A Sudanese military Antonov plane crashed during takeoff from Wadi Seidna air base in Omdurman, just outside Khartoum, killing at least 46 people. 10 others were injured when the craft slammed into a house in the Karrari district.
